London love

Sometimes I really wonder what it's with me and London. Or me and the UK/Ireland in general. Though I know about its weaknesses, I love it so much. I feel at home there. When I'm there I don't feel like leaving. I have been dreaming of moving over for real for years and years, even more so after my half year in Cardiff. But, alas, getting a job there is... not easy, to say the least. And the move itself would be very expensive.

For now, I'll have the visits. Fortunately, it's not as far as it used to be. It's tempting to go in December...

Hey, If you really want to you can. Look at me, I had no money too when I started working on that moving project. Just start with saving 1000 NOk per month, or whatever you can miss. It builds up.
And there is internet, www.careerjet.co.uk, and you can already speak perfectly English. I see no obstructions.

I'm not likely to move anytime soon, as I haven't had my current job for very long. Besides, getting a job in the UK is very hard, even for people in the UK with a masters degree. (In Norway they're screaming for qualified librarians, except for in Oslo).

It's not fair to say "I did it, then you can do it too", as you don't know all details around my living situation.

I didn't mean it so bad. I just wanted to say that if you really really want to, you can. If you keep thinking that it's impossible you will never get there.

No, I don't know anything about your living situation. But I lived in an expensive city (Amsterdam), alone, with little money. I could have thought that it was impossible to find a job in Norway, as a foreigner, at the state, with a language deficiency....
I didn't have money to just go there and look for a job. I just had enough, a few thousand euro's, for the moving itself.

See it as a long term project. If you start saving a little bit of money now, you'll have enough money in maybe 5 years, or even 10, when the economy in the UK has recovered and when lots of people have retired and there are more and more jobs available for the next generation.
And in the meantime have 5 years of practice to write the most perfect job-letter ever...
